Guerrero Galván is the strange case of one of those painters who, as they mature, lose method and artistic quality in their work. In retrospect, he shows a trajectory moving away from the virtuosity that characterized him in the thirties. Different in his last years and a bit repetitive in his subjects, he was at the beginning a painter gifted with a pure technique, universal art knowledge and his own artistic propositions. El filósofo is a painting still from his best times, where the massive figure of a person with marked contours and an inexpressive bearing, as if in a dreamy reflection, is seen, close to the models of the Madonna and child of the Renaissance painters, whom he always admired. Indistinct, asexual, seminude characters, with an incipient sensualism and contained modesty, like pubescent, who, with his skilled brush and harmonic palette, he surrounded with luminous environments and ethereal atmospheres.
