Painter, engraver and sculptor, he began painting under the instruction of Jesús Reyes Ferreira in Guadalajara at the age of 14. In 1935 he moved to Mexico City, where he exhibited in the gallery of the League of Revolutionary Writers and Artists and in the National Autonomous University of Mexico. For some critics he is an "enfant terrible" because of the erratic and ambiguous subjects he has dealt with. The influence of Manuel Rodríguez Lozano and other artists of the fantasy school has been found in his early works. He has devoted many years to teaching, mainly in the School of Arts and Crafts. He has lived in France and Italy. His talent and inventiveness have extended to painting, sculpture, ceramics and graphic art. Soriano has also designed sets and costumes for the ballet company of Felipe Segura, some of which were displayed in the Museo de Arte Moderno of Mexico City in 1990. He died on February 10th, 2006 in Mexico City.
