Negrete was born on April 10, 1902 in Mexico City. Studied in San Carlos under Germán Gedovius and Leandro Izaguirre. In 1926 he made his first engravings in Escuela de Pinturas al Aire Libre of Xochimilco. The subject-matter of his work is inspired by landscapes and lakes from this zone. He taught engraving and drawing. His work was scant -less than 30 oils- that could be appreciated in diverse exhibitions. His critics mentioned that his painting did not develop because he did not propose it, although he did not immerse himself in the manierism movement, not in the routine. He made also two interesting sculptures, Cabeza and Abrazo . In 1929, Negrete's wooden engravings illustrated the magazine " El Sembrador " published by the Ministry of Public Education. He died in Mexico City in 1961.
