Francisco Martínez, Activo 1718-1758

Francisco Martínez was a retablo maker and gilder as well as a painter, and he had the further distinction of being a notary of the Inquisition. Many works by him are known and many still remain to be cataloged. He is best known for having gilded the grand Retablo of the Kings of Mexico City Cathedral in 1736-37 and for his work in retablos and paintings in the church of Regina Coeli, also in Mexico City. His production on copper is minimal, limited to a few nun´s badges.
