Masaru Goji was born in Osaka, Japan in 1943. In 1966 he graduated from the University of Art and Science, Kyoto, Japan as Sculptor Master. From 1967 to 1972 studied in the free workshops of the Department of Plastic Arts in the Universidad Veracruzana (Xalapa). From 1977 to 1999 Goji designed several monuments in the state of Veracruz. As a conferencist, Goji was invited by the University of Art and Science of Kyoto (1977); University of Kinjo (1983); University of Shotoku (1993) and the University of Seika (2000), all in Japan. He has exhibited in Mexico and Japan. In 1982 he received Honorary Mention from Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes in Mexico City; in 1985, Special Mention in the Sculpture Triennial, INBA and in 1996, Goji was honored by the Secretary of Education and Culture in Kyoto, Japan for his efforts in promoting cultural and artistic exchange between Mexico and Japan during 30 years. Actually, he lives and works in Papantla, Veracruz.
