A colonial painter of the 18th Century, Nicolás Enríquez is believed to have been born in Guadalajara, Mexico. Much of his known works were executed in the period between 1730 and 1768, although he continued to paint in the mid 1780's. He was activ as an artist both in Gualajara and Mexico City. Examples of his works in Mexico City include the eight panels of Scenes of the Passion, signed in 1768. Enriquez's work has been acquired by many institutions, among them the Escuela de Artes Plásticas, Museo Nacional de Historia and the Museo de Guadalajara.
